David Jordan

Senior Lean Specialist
Supply Chain Expert
Dave Jordan has 37 years’ experience as a Supply Chain professional all with the Kimberly-Clark Corporation (KCC). During this time Dave worked in all three major business sectors within KCC: Consumer Products, Health Care and Professional (KC’s B2B sector), working both at various manufacturing operations and at headquarter sites. He had held positions in procurement, customer service, distribution and planning and has extensive leadership experience with the last 33 years of his career leading operational and/or a project teams. He is extremely proud of the hundreds of supply chain professionals he has had a hand in guiding and developing over these years. His favorite and most impactful roles over the years have been the ones working directly and establishing strong, collaborative cross functional processes between planning and operations.
Dave has been instrumental in bringing large transformational change to the KCC supply chain and has been sought out for his leadership in these initiatives. Examples of these include:
· the first third party Warehouse Management System in KCC North American operations
· the first multi-site, integrated MRP II project in KCC North America operations
· the first SAP enterprise implementation for KCC North America
· the first integrated Advanced Planning system (SAP APO) for KCC Professional
· selected to represent KC Professional in a Global enterprise ‘gold standard’ initiative to standardize S&OP processes and tools across all regions and sector of KCC
Over the last third of his career Dave has been an integral part of the Professional business sector’s supply chain leadership team. In this role Dave had three main accountabilities: led a supply planning organization of 30+ planners; led the Professional sector monthly S&OP process; and led the change requirements of implementing Lean principals into the planning organization and aligning with these across the business and operational teams. The Lean initiative was the first time the management of KC’s supply chain was approached as a value chain with the goal of seamlessly synchronizing business needs with cost effective planning and operations. During this Lean journey major changes were implemented to enable Professional to operate as a single, cross functional team, spanning the end-to-end fulfillment chain from suppliers to customers. Mass changes Dave helped implement across all the supply chain teams included: bringing full visibility to customer demand across all functions, embracing a run to demand mindset in manufacturing, setting inventory as a shared accountability, establishing full visibility and performance accountability through daily/weekly cross functional tiered meetings and standardizing a ‘plan do check and adjust’ (PDCA) process, and driving a problem solving mindset handling simple to complex issues. More specific planning changes Dave drove with his team: level loading of assets, statistical safety stock and buffer inventories, SKU segmentation to increase velocity through our operations and reduce lead time, pull systems for internally produced items, and standardization and simplification of planning systems and processes. KCC’s cost savings, manufacturing efficiency, capacity availability, inventory reduction, and customer service predictability and stability all experienced transformative results as an outcome result of these changes.
