Most recently Charles D. Lininger worked as the plant manager for Plants 4 & 5 of Delphi Steering Systems in Saginaw, Michigan, from May 1999 until he retired at the end of December, 2003.

He was responsible for 1260 employees, both salaried and hourly. These two plants, covering more than 900,000 square feet of manufacturing floor space, are involved with the manufacture of halfshafts and metal-formed components. Annual volumes are in excess of six million units. The customer base includes General Motors, Daimler-Chrysler, Toyota and other Delphi Steering facilities throughout the world.

Lininger started his career with Delphi Steering in 1971 as a college graduate with training in manufacturing. He progressed through assignments in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering in Saginaw and was promoted to Industrial Engineering Superintendent for Plant 23 in Decatur, Alabama in 1979.

Upon return to the Saginaw Headquarters in 1984, he served as Manufacturing Engineering Superintendent for the divisional Controls Engineering and Manufacturing Process Development Groups. He moved from there to the design function in Product Engineering as Staff Engineer for the halfshaft product line in 1986.

In 1988 he was promoted to Manager of Sales, Marketing and Planning for the Halfshaft Business Team. The next assignment was from 1992 through 1994 as Sales Manager and Chief Engineer for the European Business Unit based in Paris, France. Here he had contact with a broad customer and product base and our manufacturing facilities in England, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.

Returning to the Saginaw site in late 1994, lead to the assignment as Chief Engineer for the North American in plant Manufacturing Engineering activities. In 1999, Lininger was promoted to Plant Manager, Plants 4 & 5, his last assignment before retirement.

Since retiring, Lininger has completed several consulting projects in Engineering and Manufacturing for Delphi/Nexteer.

Lininger is a native of Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Chuck lives in Florida with wife, Ginger and they have one son Mark, who is married with two children. Chuck’s hobbies include golf, fly fishing, muscle cars and homebrewing beer.
